Garrett's Bill To Restrict Abortion Up For A Vote
Scott Garrett (R-NJ) along with the rest of New Jersey’s congressional delegation is set to vote today on a bill that would outlaw abortion after 20 weeks. The bill H.R. 1797, co-sponsored by Garrett and titled
The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
would amend the federal criminal code to prohibit any person from performing or attempting to perform an abortion if the probable post-fertilization age of the unborn child is 20 weeks or greater.

North Jerseyans will lead the state’s two biggest political parties as lawmakers prepare for the November elections. John Currie, who heads the Passaic County Democrats, will become the next chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. The New Jersey Republican Party said that it had reelected its chairman, Samuel Raia, to serve a second term as head of the committee. Raia is also the mayor of Saddle River.
