WESTWOOD — Police are looking for a driver who intentionally hit a jogger after an argument, the chief said.
The attack happened after the driver and the jogger approached a stop sign on Kinderkamack Road near Palm Street at the same time about 6:50 p.m. Tuesday. One man may have not seen the other, and they apparently became startled and began to argue until the car sped away, Police Chief Frank Regino said.
The car went around the block, after picking up a passenger, and caught up with the runner on a nearby side street. The passenger got out of the car and argued with the jogger, who ran away on the sidewalk.
The driver of the car went into a driveway, hitting the runner on the sidewalk. The jogger, a man in his 30s, flew onto the hood of the car and fell onto the front lawn of a Lexington Avenue home, Regino said.
The car, which police believe was a gray Honda sedan from the mid-2000s, backed up and sped away, Regino said.
The runner was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with a broken collar bone and cuts and bruises.
Police said the driver was a man in his late teens or early 20s, and the passenger was in his mid-40s.
